Keya Palm Handicrafts
Keya Palm Handicrafts began as a small handicraft project near the village of Boromogra in Agailjhara. Initially, seven women were employed in 1987 and were taught how to make products with palm and keya leaves.
Now there are over 50 women employed at the unit and the products that they make are in high demand. They are very skilled artisans and make an assortment of bracelets, earrings, pencil holders, napkin rings, baskets and the popular stars and fish streamers that are used to decorate rooms and Christmas trees. The star streamers have been an immediate success for the artisans of this unit and they continue to be sold all over the world.
Keya Palm employs 40 regular producers and 30 seasonal producers.
